How I Make Extra Time
Is there anyone else out there who is as obsessed with time as I am? I feel like time is running away from me. If this was a race, time would be winning. Trying to find time to do everything I want to do is a real challenge. Finding it while dealing with my family is even more challenging. I know I’m not the only one!
Some people are racing time concerning their age, and for some it’s an everyday thing. Time to get up, time to go to bed, time to leave. Always go, go, go. The clock is ruling our lives. Our busy lifestyles don’t stop there. That’s the problem though, Isnt it? It’s our lifestyle. This world we live in has made our lifestyle a race against time.
So how do we stop or at least slow down? How do we find the time to breathe, to relax. My most favorite place to go is Olympus Spa in Tacoma Washington. I love me a good spa day, and that I don’t have to cut off an arm or a leg to be able to go is a plus. There are rules and requirements though preventing me from taking advantage of all they have to offer.
Number one because of the hot rooms, it is not good to go while pregnant. Which I just finished with. Number two I feel uncomfortable going while I’m lactating. I don’t know if that is their rule but it makes me uncomfortable. I remember something about it but can’t remember exactly what. It is women only, which is nice as no clothing of any kind is allowed in the waters.
I miss going. What other way is there to take the load of time off? What little reward can we give ourselves that makes us feel like we are getting a break. We could go sit in the park. It’s nice during the rain to go walk in the park. There is hardly anyone there. But be sure it is a trusted area and you’re not in any danger. A positive about the park especially one that has trees is that it almost feels like we are out in nature. For me that is a little more relaxing.
Listening to your favorite music super loud on your way to work can help. I had a bad day the other day and had to meet my hubby for something after work. When we were all done, the whole way home I turned up my music. When I got home, I felt better. Sometimes a little sleep goes a long way.
Maybe you just need more rest. Sleep can effect our everything, if we are not getting enough of it. Sleep can stop you from being able to concentrate. If your tired or sleepy, then you might need an extra hour of sleep. I get up at 3:30 to feed the baby before leaving for work. Then I work all day long. Afterwards I usually head to the gym for my walk. I am trying to lose weight. Often though time is against me. I get tired.
- I almost didn’t make it yesterday. In the beginning of the day I said “oh yeah, I’m gonna walk today”. Then towards the end of the day, I changed my mind. I was literally about to drive past the last street to turn down when I told myself to get my butt in there. I’m looking forward to heading in again today.
Time is always against me. I miss my babies. Time sais I’m not spending enough of it with them. I miss cooking for the hubby or cleaning the house. Time sais “haha, I didn’t provide what you wanted today. Looks like you get to learn more patients after all” It and I have not been getting along. We wrestle against each other. I force it to cooperate.
Some ways I do that are:
- Get up earlier to feed baby and work on business.
This is me making it work.
- I use to get to work early to take a walk
My job can be super stressful. This was my making time to de-stress.
- Going to the gym right after work.
If I don’t go home first then I know I will get there. It also saves me the forty minutes it would take to drive home and then back to the gym.
- Get all my clothes and lunch ready for the next day as soon as I get home.
I do this so that I can have the rest of my day for the babies and family stuff. My lunch preparation starts on the Sunday before with me pre packaging that week’s lunches so that all I have to do is grab it and put it in the bag each day.
These are some of the ways I have found to beat time while working an eight to ten-hour work day five to six days a week. To be able to beat time while taking care of two small children and a spouse. I’m still trying to figure out how to include a cleaning regimen. I use to have that part down but since having my third child, it hasn’t worked out the way I would like. I’ll let you know when I figure that one out.
What ways do you do time management? How are you winning today? What ways have you found to save time?
